Hi all, Ive had a Jurupari for about a month. About a week or so ago, it showed signs of ick, but seemed to have gotten over it. The fish is on the skinny side, and really hasn't been much of a voracious eater. Today he spent the entire day on the bottom of the tank. I also read the profile on Juruparis and it mentioned the substrate in the tank must be fine gravel or sand. I have course gravel, am I starving this guy out? Has anyone kept one on course gravel? I didn't want to start a new thread, hope its cool I ask here![]()
I have a Jupari that I picked up about 2 months ago. In my 240 I have river rock. I don't think substrate has anything to do with geos. They do prefer sifting through sand than river rock. My Jupari at first didn't take pellets but about 2 weeks after I got him he eats them. Hopefully, your Jupari doesn't have some kind of internal parasite. I will tell you this they are not the fastest at catching pellets. I have to trick my other fish in order to get him to catch a pellet. Good luck on your Jupari. Hopefully he'll make it through. They are beautiful fish. Here's a pic of mine.
