Can you tell me what type of Geo this is?

What about sex?

Can it be kept with aggressive CA cichlids (JD, Trimac, Midas)?

Thanks!

I would say a juvi G. surinamensis, but I'm not sure cuz when they are small they are harder to tell apart. How big is your geo? Sex I dont know. Agressive ciclids are a no no! Geos are realitively peaceful and those CA ciclids you listed could seriously hurt or kill your geo. If I were you I'd get some more earter eats cuz they do well in groups!! Check out he media forum to see what they look like when they get older, Japes has some awesome pics!!!

Geophagus surinamensis do not have an opercular mark. Do you have a photo with its lateral bars being expressed? It looks like Geophagus dicrozoster.

It is geophagus dicrozoster... I have several myself, if you put that in in with trimacs and jacks it will be slaughtered

I'm not as good with the Geophagus as I am with the Biotodoma and Satanoperca but don't dicrozoster have a black squiggly cheek mark?

This pic is not much better.

The Geo has been with the JD's for a long time and they don't have any issues. The Trimac was moved in order to protect her from her mate. The Midas was a lack of research on my part. The Midas is small right now, but has no fear of anything, and bumps the Geo sometimes. They are all in a 180 gal with 4 large silver dollars and a Rafael Cat.

I will have to come up with something. I currently have a 150 gal with a male Trimac, and a 29 gal with a convict and cory cats. I don't think either of these options will work.

I would trade/sell it if I were you. The tank substrate is completely inappropriate for substrate-sifting fish, you're going to have to perform gravel-ectomies eventually.
