I try not to shoot over 100 ISO. The lowest ISO you can shoot the best.

In order to black out the background you need an remote flash to place above the tank shooting down. (you can also then point the camera directly at the fish and get rid of the weird angles).

What settings are you using? I tend to shoot in aperture priority, that way I can get the shallow depth of field for the nice fuzzy background.

A good editing program like PhotoShop is essential.

Thanks. They're not the most colorful cichlids, but are one of the most beautiful in my book.
