It is a nice geo, but I doubt it was the food that made the difference, and IMO, I too like the before.

I have a 11" male that have been on a staple of the cheapest pellets ($4/lb) since he was 4", its color only got better with age.

Nice fish. Have you had it since it was young? I have a few and I'm not quite sure if the are brasiliensis. I'll try and get some pics of them.
