Happens to many species - commonly seen on A. heckelii, Orange Head variants, G. brachybranchus. Sometimes it's double spots, sometimes it's warped spots that blend with lateral barring. Ed Burress has wild Tapajos variant Orange Heads with double spots from memory - one of my big beautiful dominant male Araguaia variant Orange Heads had double spots on one side and a very vertical spot on the other. I've kept and scene both locally and internationally A. heckelii with "Clusters" of 3, sometimes 4 lateral spots.
Wow, that's new to me. I've seen the warped/blended spots before, but never two completely separate spots. Thanks for the info. Now I want one of these oddballs...lol.
I am the new owner of the orange heads and the largest of the three has a caved in top of his head right in front of his dorsal fin. I don't think there is a picture of him yet. I will take one later.
Does anyone have any experience with this and know what may cause it or it is if fixable?
