Geophagus ID!!!

It looks like a young Gophagus sp. "Tapajos II"
 
That looks like a geophagus jurupari to me.

Can see where you'd get that in just a general way with a juvenile's relative lack of distinguishing color, etc. and just seeing a sort of generalized eartheater shape. So, not going to criticize someone taking a shot at it as best as they know, all part of the learning curve with eartheaters. Geo species are tricky to distinguish, especially when young, so it's all in the details, and unless you're pretty experienced with them it's hardly unheard of to get it wrong. Even the relative experts can find it tricky with small geos.

But-- Satanoperca, including jurapari, have a distinctive shape, mouth, eye position (though this varies a bit with species), etc. It's even more obvious in person, but once you note this difference they're relatively easy to distinguish from fish that are now technically Geophagus.

Except, don't confuse Satanoperca with Retroculus, with somewhat (though not exactly) similar head and mouth, but different finnage, habits, etc. :D
