Surinamensis is rare in the hobby. Most fish sold as surinamensis are either abalios or altifrons. This looks like it could be the former.

It will be easier to tell once they put on more size.

Agree with Ryan, don't know that it's a rule but it seem lfs "surinamensis" often turn out to be altifrons or abalios and in altifrons I'd expect a smaller black spot, making abalios a default guess for me-- and it looks like it could be. That said, at that size several species look similar and surprises happen. Someone who's bred a certain species might distinguish them at a small size, otherwise you probably won't know for a while.
 
...Forgot to look and add for altifrons: they have small spots on the tail, yours looks more like dashes, which should become more dashes to stripes than spots.
