Geophagus Orange Heads.. Tapajos or Araguari?

I picked up these guys as Tapajos but I am more leaning towards Araguari now..

What do you guys think?

All of the Tapajos I have seen have a more white body but the ones I have are greenish.

but yeah.. i picked these up a few months ago and FINALLY I am starting to see some nice colors.

They are about 3.5" now and growing. Got them at 2"

Definitely Tapajos.


Look at the lateral spot, the Tapajos have a more rounded spot and Araguaia will have an elongated lateral spot. There are more ways to determine the two but it is much easier when they get bigger of course.

i think if you put natural colored sand inside there the fish's colors would pop up more.

Bodies are 'green' because they're on dark substrate, and I agree with the Tapajos id.

looks like the lighting is a bit green to or it could be the reflection off the plants.
