Rook45, if you want ones that will grow large then go with Altifrons. :) The aggression won't be nothing compared to a bunch of Brasiliensis.

How many??? Just depends on what you plan for the future of your tank. I would load up with some Altifrons, redheads, etc. And as they grow, just weed the ones out you do not like. I just sold all of my Altifrons 'Manuas' just because I didn't like them compared to some of my other geos. Just get what makes you happy:D

Also, just from my experience, I have several different species of loaches in with my Geos. I have seen that they help break the aggression somewhat because they both stay near the bottom of the tank creating more 'traffic' and less one on one chases between the geos. I'm not sure if your black aro would see the loaches as food or not.

As for future plans I'm keeping the aro and wanted to have mostly geos in there probably 9 geos.
Another question what the max size of the red heads I've read post of 7" but also read other places on the web a max size of 5".

Japes what's the geo in your avitar...heckli?? Ya think that would replace the brasiliensis well in my set up? max size?

Rook, your not gonna see a redhead much larger than 7" or MAYBE 8".

Definitely NOT 5":screwy:. You might see 8" max, thats including the trailers from their tail.

Give it a week or two, they'll sort it out. Heckelii max size is around 9" and that certainly is one in my avatar, just a 10cm juvenile though.

Is $40 too much for a 4" Heckelii

If you've got the money and extra tank to buy bulk online you'll get your fish much cheaper, but in the beginning it can run you between $150-$300. However, you can sell the fish for a lot more than you'll pay if you pick up 20+ peices and make all of your money back...

I don't want to do that too much stress with all the bull$hitters over in buy/sell land. They'll be a few miles away and act like they have to drive cross country to pick up. I don't need the stress.

Most of the crazy aggression has died down...It seems like the most aggressive is the altifrons...Also I just added 3 1.5" altifrons (I think) they were labeled as surnamensis. When I get hold of a camera again I'll post some pics for a positive ID.
