Hi guys.... Just wanted to ask you Eartheater fans out there, as well as keepers... which Geos would you recommend to a beginner Eartheater keeper. I want around 2 - 3 types of Geos that are peaceful, including Red Head Tapajos. Its gonna be a 142 gallon tank.

Ahhhh, what are the larger aggresive geo species? Are the Satanoperca sp like leucostica, jurupari alright?

Brasiliensis, Red BAHIA, Iporagensis are all kinda mean. The Satanopernca should be fine. Altifrons, abalios, and brachybranchus are all good choices too.

I'm a fan of Geophagus steindachneri myself.

Agree with the above posters. Most aggression in the genius is amongst their own kind and they leave most other fish alone. I've kept a few exeptions like a really mean braziliensis so steer clear of them.
I dont want to hijack this thread but can you eartheater fans post picks of your fish

Hey I hope to soon be a geo owner however I'm still going thru cycling and having difficulties finding good price red head geos. Hoping peathenster will get back to me soon. As he is selling his 1-2 inch fry for cheap....trying to pick up 12 for $60...with shipping including I think.

I've gotten several fish from him and the quality is outstanding IMO. My biggest male tapajos from him is stunning, so are my brokopondos and krobia. Great guy.

Well, I do have a few questions... how bout steindacheri, pellegrini, and maybe heckelii? Are those good geos as well or a bit aggresive?
