Awesome fish, really love those brasiliensis ?
There are now 2 pits dug on either side of the log by the GB. I don't think I have a m/f mix so no worries about a pair forming. I am enjoying the way the blue iridescence is spreading over the sides of each as they grow.

In post #8 where the two braziliensus are facing opposite directions, the one left appears to be male, the one facing right appears to be female.
Oh, boy. Now that's blown that theary. Well, it was a peaceful tank for a bit.

1. Largest of the G.B. is approx 5in. The middle one is on the left. You can see the dark blue trim on the pectoral and anal fins.

2. The middle one is about 3-4in. This one also displays the dark blue edging on the pectoral and anal fins.

duanes duanes from what I have read these guys mature at a smaller size than other Geo. sp. The largest 2 flair and dance at each other. The largest will push on the smaller one with its mouth but I haven't seen any lip locking, yet.

I tried to google this species and the only thing google came up with are your responses on this forum from 2017!! I even tried cichlid-forum and nothing much there.

Sorry typo, spelled iporagensis, is some circles, it is know as a location variant or subspecies of braziliensis or in some a valid species in itself.
It is only known from a single locality, Iporanga, in th Upper Ribiera area in small streams.
At the time I picked it up there were a number of braziliensis variants being imported, including it, and the G. brasiliensus "Bahia Red"
Future DNA testing will eventually sort them out.
