Geophagus Surinamensis

Got these today. Can someone confirm that they are in fact Geophagus Surinamensis. I dont know how to tell sex. Does anyone know how...or can you tell by the pics. do they look healthy from what you can tell from the pics. thanks guys.

Yes they look good. Definately Surinemensis. Surinemensis is just a general name of geos that look like this there are many sub-species of this fish such as Dicrozoosters,Altrifons, Red Head tapajos to name a few. Google Geophagus Surinemensis and you will see what I mean.
 
thanks guys i had no idea that there were other sp. under that name...now i gotta find out their exact sp.

The black bars will tend to fade with maturity, mine had them when younger.
 
Sharp looking little geos you got there bumpy. I'm completely addicted to mine. I think you're going to have to wait until their colors come in before you'll get a good ID for them. I've never found a way to sex them reliably, besides catch them mating. :lol:
