Geophagus Tapajos OH's parenting pics

these geo's are my all time fav cichlid of any species or region, they have to have more parenting instinks then any fish i have had in this hobby, when they pair off they stay that way, the male doesnt wonder off to cheat on his lady
As for tips and tricks, all i can say is leave them be and keep up on your water changes and they will take care of you. i dont strip and as you can see from the pics i dont need to, but i leave them with fry every 3rd spawn, helps them learn the full cycle, and not to mention i get a really cool view of it all, but when i do that in the end the fry will of been eatin by other fish in the tank, but thats what has to happin for them to learn to protect the fry for long period of times, and then longer i can wait to net the fry the better off they will be as well.
There spawn #'s will also depend on how many and ofton you do take the fry, if you steal there fry right away every spawn the spawns will be smaller and they will do it more ofton, but when i leave them be for every 3rd spawn they dont spawn right away as they spend more time with there young and helps them get back to a good health for the next spawn, the parents will also take turns eating, wile one eats the other will stay to protect the fry, and then they will take turns, one then the other to eat. pretty cool to see

yes i do! its a must book, i wish there were more to it or a sec version, but as far as i know he wont be makeing one anytime soon. but either way awsome book!
