Geophagus Tapajos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its a corner tank so quite deep and tall (22" water depth). Each side is 34" and it has a bow front going from wall to wall.

My kribs arent fin nippers - I currently have 6 x threadfin rainbows and they still have all their fins and trailers despite the kribs having fry. I was more worried about the geos bullying the kribs! Although the kribs are pretty tough, I havent lost any fish so far and thats after 2 spawns.

Ok, so size wise I will not be upgrading any time soon as this is a new tank. Would 3 males work with one severum and 5 rainbowfish plus a small shoal of tetra (congos, lemons etc) plus the 2 kribs?

Thanks :)

I like those style of tanks! If I ever do a planted tank, thats the style I want to buy.

Ok, the reason why your Threadfin Rainbows still have their "thread fins" is because the Kribs aren't as fast as the Rainbows. I had a Krib with my geos several years ago and I sold him once I found out he was the culpret.

On stocking your tank.... That will work but stocking also depends on the fishes mentality. The list you just posted, will work, BUT you may need to thinout as you see fit once they become adults. I've got OH in different tanks and I have some Alpha males that wouldn't hurt a flea and others that show a lot more aggression towards conspecifics than normal. But as far as all the different species getting along, yes you will be fine. Just keep an eye on the Kribs once the Geos start developing trailers.

I suppose the other alternative is to keep my 125L for my kribbies and let them breed to their hearts content. This will then fund my new tank :)
