I hate to see the Pandas go, very beautiful, & expensive fish indeed.

I fear they may seek new targets, once the Geos are gone though.

Why not get a rubbermaid tote set up, as a temporary holding tank.
They are affordable to set up, & you could use it as a trial & error, without giving up your prized fish rite away.

Maybe try removing the Geos as a test run, to see if it helps. If it does great, or if not try the Pandas, to see who be next in line to cause trouble, if any.

i agree with Nick, the pandas are amazing, but they might go after other fish in the tank once the geos are gone

Honestly Joey its tough for anyone not in your position to say. There are allot of species, in smaller numbers in the tank. Both the ferns and geo species should be kept in groups. The tough thing about cichlids in communities is once you remove the aggresor(s), the next in line steps up to the plate, often one you had no issues with before. Which should go is more up to what your goals are. Both are beautiful..

Yea, I think you are right. Reason why I'm leaning towards getting rid of the Pandas. They are crazy aggressive. Best to keep them in a group to themselves. They are actually starting to now pay attention to my Discus, not in a good way. So the two will probably end up going to a new home. They are definitely beautiful but not to keep at the expense of my other fish getting bullied. The the Geo's I have left has actually grown on me.

So tuff to let go but it's for the best....

I feel you. Tough decision when a community does not work out as intended, or should have. I cannot vote either as I've not kept either. I was looking into Uaru's myself, but was only looking to get one. After reading more and knowing I don't have a tank large enough to have a school of 4 minimum of them, they're not a fit for me. I had not seen the panda ones you have until reading this thread either. I can see the dilemma, they are beautiful.

That's what Geos do...slowly but surely :)

A guy in NC ("fishspeaker") used to have a pair. They spawned, and the next day the male ate all the eggs and killed the female (not necessarily in that order). He lives with JD now in a community tank with larger SAs. So I guess they can be quite nasty by Uaru standard.

It's just surprising how aggressive they can get. As beautiful as they are, probably best in a community with bruisers. With their devilish red eyes and sharp little teeth they can definitely cause problems. You can't let their beauty fool you...lol..

But damn, it's so hard to let go...hahaha...

think they would do good in a big cichlid tank ?? Thinking about getting some xingu myself.

never saw a 'panda' before they look pretty damn cool hows the personality?

They are more active and pushy than Uaru amphiacanthoides, but make sure you read up on their requirements. They can be pretty touchy fish.
