Geophagus WHAT?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They don't look like an orange head, after 2 years of growing they'd have more orange. But awesome geos, I'll look around too see what I can find.

yo,

They did get more color when I moved them into the 75g. Now the color is in the fins, their heads washed out. I think I have all males(6)

I don't think they have hole in the head. I hardly use carbon anyway(what i think causes hole in the head)

Thank you for helping , I hope to get a definitive answer one day.

Geophagus "Tapajós Orange Head"

Looks like they have HITH, maybe why they do not have "orange heads".
I 2nd that! I don't think they have hith though.

My tapajos orangehead geos (RIP, loved them, full of personality) looked pretty much exactly like that. Orange on the heads is usually slight, not nearly as much as on google images. My thought though is that after "2 years of growing" they still look pretty small, while my geos got from 3" to 6" in half a year, maxing out at about 9" each, and they would have gotten larger had they not died in an ammonia spike :(

Anyways, good looking fish. Orangeheads are also quite aggressive for geos, pushed my acara back to a very small piece of territory, and he's got a scar running down his body from a dispute on their 4th day of meeting.

surinamensis geophagus? can not be orange heads, even in new tank and stressed there still should be some color on the head after 2 years. Plus the top fins would also be more colored. gl with identifying the fish.

I believe they actually have all circle spots in their tail. I believe that is what distinguishs them from altifrons and abalios. Not 100% though.
