surinamensis geophagus? can not be orange heads, even in new tank and stressed there still should be some color on the head after 2 years. Plus the top fins would also be more colored. gl with identifying the fish.
My tapajos orangehead geos (RIP, loved them, full of personality) looked pretty much exactly like that. Orange on the heads is usually slight, not nearly as much as on google images. My thought though is that after "2 years of growing" they still look pretty small, while my geos got from 3" to 6" in half a year, maxing out at about 9" each, and they would have gotten larger had they not died in an ammonia spike
Anyways, good looking fish. Orangeheads are also quite aggressive for geos, pushed my acara back to a very small piece of territory, and he's got a scar running down his body from a dispute on their 4th day of meeting.
