what are the best looking geo's out there. So far I really like the red head/hump Tapajos... any other suggestions ?

Tapajos and brasilensis IMO. Why, you thinking about some for your 150?

Im going to have to agree. A. heckelii are the finest looking species within the Geophaginae IMO.

I currently have heckelii, balzini, red humps and winemilleri. The threadfins are by far my favorites. The others are small though. Time will tell I guess. Only downside is the heckelii down sift like typical GEOS...

Red heads are nice. But what really caught my mind are the Jupari. Very nice finnage and the pearl on them really shines. Plus I think they are the biggest of the geo family if I'm not mistaken. Here's a pic of the Jupari.

Heckelii are not geos. They aren't even considered an earth eater. They were once thought to be related, but now it is believed that heckelii are actually the "link" between earth eaters and acaras. However, to the best of my knowledge, no definitive evidence of this has been presented to the general public to prove that theory.

'Red head' tapajos and winemilleri get my vote for best looking geos. If you mean earth eaters in general, then I recommend either some Guianacaras if searching for smaller cichlids or some Satanoperca if looking for 8-10" cichlids.

There are several species of Geophagus that rival the largest Satanoperca species, but Satanoperca are definitely one of the largest genus of earth eatering cichlids in South America.
