just thought of this do you guys keep sand as a substrate with the geo's im planning on sand with an Oscar maybe a gt, small cat and geo. (150gal) but do the stirr the sand up so bad that it messes with the filter.

oh yeah really appreciate all the pics and info geo's have a strong fan base man...can see why

Go with pool filter sand. It's heavy enough that the geos won't stir sand up into the filters. I started out with play sand and my old red head geos kicked it up all over the place. It always looked cloudy, but the pool filter sand never lifted any higher than the geos took it.

Thanks for all your input... you just cant get this by doing a Google search. Think im gonna go with either Altifron or a red head. You guys think they will be ok with an oscar and gt?

Anyone know how to sex a Geo Altifron? Or what to look for when venting them?

Do you have only one Geo??

Unfortunately, yes...The one I have is being sold if its a female....And I'll be getting a group of RH's in the next few weeks.

I knew nothing about them when I bought him from the LFS, and now I see how freaking stunning they are...I need to get a proper group of them.
