We should make that the sp. description lol j/k If you find out what George is, hit me up yeah? I've got two juvies that look just like him, but I didn't know suri's were rare, so now I don't know what they are   .

Uh oh, do you know something I don't? Is feeding them krill and plankton bad? Whut is dis hormonal ju speak of?

Oh, one last thing, is that a jurupari in the background of the second pic?

Yep, I've been told over and over that true surinamensis are actually quite uncommon in the hobby. There are a lot of Geo species that look indentical as juveniles, so its hard to tell what they really are until they're larger. So I have no clue what exactly he is, but he's purdy ;)

No no, feeding krill and plankton isn't bad, I'm just too lazy to do so, lol. They get colour flakes, but flakes that use natural colour enhancers, not hormones.

And no, not a jurupari in the background...pfft, wayyy too common of a fish for me to keep ;) I have three S. daemon in the tank as well.

I'm pretty sure it is a surinamensis. this is my big 11" one and they're very similar

Yeah, that looks like a bigger George, lol. Who knows, I'd be perfectly happy if he was a suri, and I'd be perfectly happy if he's something else too :) I'd just like to know incase I ever decide to get him some buddies of his very own.

heheh nice fish..

Im going to have to be the one and Say Geophagus Altifrons...I was sold the same LFS "Surinamensis". Here is a pic or 2... same white streamers..and tailspots...

Nope, just the one unfortunately. He was the last one left in the store when I bought him, and they haven't had more in since. Turns out George might actually be a Georgette too, lol. I've had a quite knowledgable Geo keeper on another forum say he thinks its an altifron, and I honestly am leaning that way myself. Marvin, I'd question whether yours is actually a Suri, or an Altifron?

What other Forum, i would love to know a new Geo Site... And Marvin i'm sorry to burst your bubble, but i would agree its an Altifrons, Which is truly one of the best Geophagus species there is, with the Tapajos red head... Congrats to us all.

I have 2 Altifrons, and one has grow about double the rate of the other...perhaps M and F fish? I also have a Geo Brasiliensis, Geo Dicrozoster(has the black mouth markings, and tail markings) and nice Balzani.

I'm ALWAYS and i mean ALWAYS on the lookout for more Geophagus species.

PS how do you tell M or F sexing?? Thanks ../

Oh, the site was Cichlid Madness, but there's a member over there who knows his stuff about Geos (at least, a million times more than I do, lol). He gave some reasons as to why he thought George was a female, but I'm basically just taking his word for it - I have no idea how to sex them myself.
