ive posted this question in many forums, as im so undecided about what i want. the list is probably a mile long!!!

i like the look of geos but only have space for a 55gal at the moment, so is it possible to have small group of youngsters in it. ive seen three in a 50gal somewhere on this site so i thought it may be possible but would like your advice.

no advice?

well, i guess we need to figure out what species interests you.
then we will know the max size they get, adn groups and numbers that would fit in your tank*S*. personally i like the juripari's, and the topika(that is so not the right thing) the orange heads. but do some looking and find out which species you like then we can figure out all the rest from there.

i like the surinams but red heads really interest me. as you can see i would prefer one of the more colourful species. the tank will not have any other fish in it, it is decorated with dark gravel and a large root with a few plants. I also like tapajos red heads

well the geos are an earth eater, so they really need a Fine substrate. and the orange heads, get upto like 10 inches,i dont think you would be able to keep a group.
a pair. and maybe some dithers of some sort to accent to the geo's.
But a sandy substrate is a must or 1 they will starve or 2 they will get infection in the gills as previouslsy mentioned. And even if none of that bad stuff happens without the sandy bottom you dont get the real joy of haven an earth eater fish*S* watching htme eat*S*

Tapajos Red heads in the home aquarium will get only 6", only on rare occasion do they get larger. Get a nice sand, and some nice Tapajos!! Good luck!
