German Blue Ram in a planted tank with....?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
heh yeah lemme know if you can ever reach that point. I'm always like ... that decoration looks horrid where I put it .... or I randomly decide I WANT TO CHANGE EVERYTHING in the tank.... my Violet Gobies hate it when I move their caves around. Cuz they can't find them for like 20 mins.... poor blind guys... I"m hoping with a planted aquarium it will look the natural look I seem to want...

BTW... does the water have to be tea colored to be 6.5 PH? I"m trying to figure out a balance so that I can see natural color without the tea coloring.... I've got Black water Extract I can use. I use it for my Betta's and RCS tank.

haha will do and trust me i have a 125 with pbass, a 55 soon to be a planted like ur doin, and a ten if i redo one i halfta do them all, and last time it took me 3 hours and i had every fish i owned in a bad mood

yea im not sure bout the tea color or whatnot, ive always been one to have and maintain crystal clear water..i did have a piece of wood stain my water for two round of cleaning but i solved that quickly.. and yea my fish defiantly pout at me, but now they are learning that after the mayhem they get fed lol..so i think im winning them over

Right now I have a pair of rams, an oto, and 7 cardinals in my setup. One huge thing to consider is the temperature rams require. I keep mine 83-84 degrees, PH 6.4, and have plants as well. Biggest lesson for me was plant choice. Make sure your plants are capable of handling the higher temperatures (rams may live at 80, but do better at slightly higher temps from everything I've heard/read). My first group of plants I chose melted, but now I have micro chain sword and a few others.
