Jose I have had all three GBR, Golden, and Bolivian. The GBR will spawn early in age, and are very colorful. The golden ram is a bully in the ram area IMO. The bolivian ram is peacefule and a very nice fish. In your tank I think the Bolivan will look cool.. just make sure you look at the color. they don't have much already but some of the pelvic fins have some highlights and then the belly is pink or orang.

if they arent then what are they

Ok… well the pic quality is very poor I can’t tell if they are GBR’s. I have not posted any updates, because my rams have stopped spawning. When I got them within a month they started spawning. They went thru 8 spawns and only the second spawn did I have swimmers. Every other time one of the parents ended up eating the fry. I don’t know if it was due to them tired of protecting the spawn from other tank mates or one of the other ones forcing the other to mate.

I have heard that there are seasons to which they will spawn. One person told me that if I raise the temp of the water in very small increments just before I do a wc, and then do the wc with little cooler water and turn the temp back to normal. By doing this it is supposed to simulate rain fall. When I do this there color’s are very bright and the female’s egg funnel starts to drop and they start acting like they’re going to spawn, but they don’t. Also you can feed live black worms and live brine shrimp. The live food gets there hormones going to. Of and on since spawn number 8 they have acted like a married couple, fight, make up, then get back together.

People have told me that GBR’s spawn at an early age and only for a year of 2. Don’t know if that is true or not. I hope this has helped you, but remember, just because you have a male and a female… does not mean they will automatically spawn… I was very lucky to get only two without knowing there sex (because they were too young) and have them pair up. Good luck and let me know if this will help.
