I am just wondering if I am feeding them the proper diet. They are currently being fed Hikari Blood worms and Hikari Brine Shrimp. Also Tetra min tropical crisps. Anything else that should be added to their diet?
Variety for any cichlid is your best bet, while fish go nuts over brine shrimp and blood worm there really isn't much nutritional value.
I would feed them a high protein content flake food - such as somthing from Ocean Nutrition, spirulina based waefers, and BioGold pellets if you can swing the cash.
Blood worms are really better for trying to encourage breeding behavior, over using as a staple diet. IMO.
i feed mine the same thing all my big guys get new life spektrum sinking pellets and i also feed them spirulina flakes ...... spirulina has all the digestive and nutrition contents u need and new life is imo the best all around protein base..... freeze drieds are like treats dont go nuts
imo its best to feed rams tiny pinches of food 3 times daily and skip 1 day a week so they can graze on matter inside your aquarium i would feed freeze dried maybe 3-4 a month once a day
