Hi all
This guy just recently gets colors. He was picked from mixed tank.
Seems like a lot of blue for a german red, I saw on imperial tropical site hybrid called “blue dragon” . Any help with ID??C261229D-8F63-4834-A065-B441645C5A29.jpegAAB79E77-CCCF-4EE7-B1FA-FAA109ED583C.jpeg2CC419DF-2823-4751-ACE9-05C6FF9F1EF7.jpeg

I am sure it is a hybrid. Probably a dragonblood mixed with a Ruby/German red.

If you haven't figured this out yet, Ruby and German red are basically interchangeable. They have been line bred to appear more red than fish appear in Lake Malawi, and given non-scientific names.

Well I dont see dragonblood in it. I did my research and I actually used to have a fully red ruby, but internet is full of pics of rubys, some have more or less blue in a back half.

The orange resembles a eureka red but it dosnt have the head shape to match. The lack of white tips on the dorsal fin removes a lot os similarly colored strains. As mentioned It appears to be a good looking hybrid and anything more than that is a guess.

Here's a pic of my eureka red to show how theres a dip on the head and the white tipped dorsal.

I don’t see red empress at all. Possibly German red or otter point jacobfreibergi or a mix of the two? Just spitballing from mixed tanks. It is a good looking fish regardless.

The pattern on the body, especially the tail, screams dragonblood. Even dragonbloods are just hybrids, so they aren't exactly a specific fish.

Ok so here is a Pic of ruby red from Animal-world website..
I think there is lots of species with a pattern on tail similar to dragonblood..
