Geting a 55 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would get a second filter to hang on the opposite side. IMO clown loaches will get too big for that tank, so if you have them you will need to have a plan on moving them to a larger tank in a couple years. If I were you I would put a pair of firemouths or sevs in there.

i'd go african cichlids

do jack dempsey or green terror ( 1 or the other) and a couple of firemouths and convicts...just a suggestion..definetly let it cycle until there is no ammonia at all and stable ph and low nitrate nitrite...give it as long as it takes to get those water parameters...put in some cheap fish to cycle it

Karate trophies! Got a few of those myself. Congrats on the tank. I would cycle it with Giant Danio's and use a liquid test kit from API. It may take as long as 60 days (Mine did)

My favorite cycling fish
Zebra danios
tiger barbs
giant danios

me too!!!!!
anyways congrats on the tank.is it your first venture into larger tanks?
what are you looking to spend on fish? with your current stock its gonna be hard. If you eel proof your tank then you could try peacock eels or spiny eels. only certain types though. also could try needle fish. If you ditch the current fish you could try bagarius bagarius. evil catfish grows about 8". dont know cost or were to get them though. they need cooler water.
keep us updated

oh, and i use guppies(not fancy ones just feeders) if you want to do it slow(you can let them breed) or use rosie reds or comets. all cycle a tank well

yep going from 10 to 55 =D
i got 2 tri colors about 3" each very small and the cray who will stay in the 10gallon but be in the 55 for a bit because the 10 is haveing some probs
once it is cycled i will worry about what fish will go in most likely tropical
and ok kool would any small fish do?
filling this thing up is going to take a while i used purified water watter.is that a bad thing 2 do?
ty for all the help

as long as its not distilled water its fine
