I don't understand why dogs come up in every hybrid conversation. Mutts are not hybrids. Stop insulting my dog

You are exactly right mutt dogs are not hybrids, they are all the same species whether St Bernard, or Spaniel.
I consider crossing different cichlid species and making them mutt/hybrids is even worse.
But in the end, the result is almost the same.
I'm also a bit of a purist when it comes to line-bred fish. When you see how fragile EBJDs are, it makes you wonder about how when you breed only for looks, what's being sacrificed within.
Again, hip displacement and the line bred maladies in dogs comes to my mind.

I feel all my cichlids hikari gold plus sinking type and new spectrum and some sinking wardley shrimp pellets mainly due to my loaches but everyone eats them lol
I could not have said it better than you duanes....it is just ridiculous. And stanzzzz I agree with you 100% as well when you said that a hybrid swimming in your tank would ruin what you try to do. I have respect for some hybrids. However that is only when it is something that is made from hybrids. Taking a pure fish and just using it to take certain traits is ridiculous, like you said duanes it can mess with evolution. I just think people need to realize that. And when it comes to the dogs...lol, my Alaskan husky is about as close to a wolf as they can get and is still a mutt lol!
A potential problem I see is that many people really don't realize how threatened a lot of CA cichlids are in the wild mostly due to pollution and habbitat loss.
