So i am getting one of this platinum florida gar after new year. I already paid the down payment to secured one if it.

The gar is around 15cm big at this moment.

My plan is to get a new tank, 120cm L x 75cm W x 50cm T (120 gal tank) for the grow out tank. For the future plan, i will have him in the 285 gal display tank with my red aro, albino CKF and rays.

Currently my red aro is 45cm big, CKF 35cm big, rays are around 30cm big.

My questions are
1- whats the average growth rate for florida gar?
2- do you think he will ever catch up the size differences with the aro?
3- how easy to convert florida gar to eat frozen foods? And at what size do i need to start to train him to eat frozen foods?

I was given a Florida Gar from a great friend and also a member but for the time I had the Gar it's growth was not too fast. The Florida Gar was already eating pellets, freeze dried, and frozen until it unfortunately jumped out of the aquarium and did not recover from internal injuries.

Found this hope it helps for answer on growth.https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/florida-gar-growth-rate.666760/

Thank you!!...

So i assume it reaches 30-35cm big in one year.. by then my aro would be 50-55cm big... almost double its size.. so i guess it is too risky to have them together with that much size differences? Hmm

I realized you're in Singapore. I was probably not looking at the same one haha. Keep us posted though. Beautiful fish. Wish I could get ahold of one
