obviously these guys need to get out of their tank fast!!! however im a bit afraid to try... the first time (i got them from a friend out of a much smaller tank) i did it i got soaked... should i like lower the water level and use a towel or somethign??? any ideas would be great!!!
thanks
tim

I'd say, don't stress them out anymore than you have too. Get wet and make sure you don't slip on the floor by using towels there. How are you transporting them or are you? Are they just being transfered? J/W However, a wet towel used to catch and pick them up after you've drained the water does sound like an interesting idea.....

im going to have to take them to a new home, about 45 min away...

which is problem #2 lol.

also, i really don't want them to get injured by banging themselves on the glass...

Be very careful doing the draining water thing, they're amazingly strong. I've seen em jump (flop?) 3 feet straight up off the floor. I'd just lunge in with the net and grab'em with the net as fast as possible.

I transported my Oscar(s) by putting them in a very large bag. and Then i also put them inside of a styrofoam cooler w/ lid. with the cooler in a cardboard box. they are both over 10".

They made it an hour and a half car ride.

I transport all of my fish using a coleman cooler. I fill it about half way with tank water then put the fish in a close the lid. This also helps keep the water at the same temp. Just make sure the cooler is clean. As for the splashing, I can't help you since i get water absolutely everywhere.

But seriously, try a big fishing landing net. I use a smaller version... a dipnet... to move my Bichir.

Oscars are more docile than Pacu, though. Do be ready for a freak-out. Try moving as slowly as possible and, if you can, dip a large container into the tank and coax them into it, then lift them out in the bucket.

thank-you! that might actually work for some reason i never though of that!

I would probably try lowering the water some then trying to get it to go into a pillow case. Never actually moved a pacu so i cant actually offer any first hand knowledge.
