getting 10''-12'' pacu out of a 75???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Put a pillow case in one corner and corner them, all they can do is dart into the case, bam all yours and wont flop on the floor

I transported my old 24" TSN in a 100 quart coleman cooler. (Rest it's soul) I also had to use a dc to ac convertor in the car where my air bubbler was connected to! It was fun times!!!!!!!!!

If you use a net be quick. Don't trap them in the net and hold them there. Scoop them in the net and in one motion get them out of the water and into a cooler. I like the pillow case ideal. Pacu's are hyper. Good luck.

my oscars were worse to move then the pacus i recently got, i put them in totes like u get at walmart, sterlite type

and i use a large, soft pond net

no matter which way you decide to try and move them, your in for a hell of a lot of water all over the place. even in a net, pillow case, or mesh laundry bag, they have an AMAZING ability to splash water entirely across a room from inside the tank.

when you both remove them from your 75g, and move them into the next tank (which by god i hope is much larger than 75g) its going to be a wet endeavor. towels and the mop will be your best friend

At Bass Pro (probably other places too), they sell fishing nets -- the big ones -- with small mesh, instead of the big mesh you usually see. If you can find one of these, it will pretty much last you the life of the Pacu, no matter how large he gets, so it's a good investment. I and my husband have moved 3 Pacu, from 12 inches to 24 inches, and I have to tell you, you're going to get wet. Each were adopted at different times. We moved our fish in a rubbermaid tub with an airstone and a power converter in the car. Also, the lid was duct-taped on, just in case. We had good luck in all three cases -- the Pacu are happy here at their new homes!

I use a pillow case for my 2 ft+ clown knife and it works like a charm. I remove all the decorations, drain the water a bit and have at it. He is in a 300 gallon tank so he does have a lot of space to run. I would not worry too much about stress because that is going to happen regardless, just minimize it at other places. There is no way you will be dry so I would not even plan to be dry. I have a 12in pacu in the same tank and only had to catch him when I grew him out to 6 inches, so good luck.

Thanks for all the responses. It worked a lot better than i thought! I just grabbed my old fishing net a scooped 'em out. Hardly even had to chase them around after lowering the water level to about 8''!
