How many SA/CA cichlids can i put in this tank?
*larger cichlids, not small ones.
IM NEW SO DON'T FLAME! =] thanks

depends on the species. Some of them are too aggressive to put with much else.

If you want a few. I would steer clear of Red Devils, Green Terrors and Flowerhorns (though FH's arent technically SA/CA cichlids)

You could choose a few of the more docile species. But frankly there are so many out there, i dont know where to start.

I would check out the sticky above for SA/CA profile thread. Take a look at some of those and see what you like. Then make a list, put it in your thread and we can help you choose the best combo.

Otherwise, just asking how many you can fit, isnt really answerable.

i have 60 SA and african cichlids in my 110 tanks, they're happy!

what kind of answer is that? :screwy:

ok thanks
can aggressive fish not be put together?
If i wanted to put some what larger cichlids in a tank how many would i be able toput in my 110?

cichlids
*Cichlasoma istlanum
*jag
*white cichlid
*midas
*green terror
*jack dempsey
*Hypselecara temporalis "Chocolate Cichlid" (really like the color)
*Texas cichlid
*festae(i dont know which one though)
*Threadfin Acara, Threadfin Geophagus(really cool)
*blackbelt cichlid
*flower horn
I looked in the forum for CA/SA those ones looked cool so i put them on the list. Im not planning to get all of those just letting you guys know what kinda fish i like.

i will post pics up later, i used to have 80+ fish in that 110 gallons. you can have as much as you want as long as you have a powerful powerhead and a strong filter.
i just started that tank, have them for about 5 months, haven't seen any fish die yet.

can aggressive fish not be put together? No, they can. But you need A LOT of space to avoud battles. Plus, some of the more aggressive species will not tolerate anyone. That said, even some aggressive species will be ok with others because sometimes it depends on the specific fish.

cichlids
*Cichlasoma istlanum - not familiar with this

These are the ones i narrowed it down to for your tank. Though, i would start out with babies and raise them together for the best chance that they would all get along.

*green terror -
*jack dempsey -
*Hypselecara temporalis "Chocolate Cichlid" (really like the color) -
*Texas cichlid
*festae(i dont know which one though)

though that might be overstocking a 110. You might even take out one more.
Also would need plenty of cover. Rocks or wood or plants to break up the tank.

There are other combinations you could try.

OK THANKS ALOT
one last question. Do you have to put decor? I was thinking just leaving the tank bare with a few large rocks and a large piece of drift wood.

80+ fish? in 110 gallons?? the bioload would be HUGE on that thing... like massive... And also im pretty sure once they grow a bit bigger it might be a bit of a tight squeeze... and also i don't know about "as much as you want" i mean, theres a limit to everything... your tank seems fairly over crowded especially since its only 110gallons.. Sorry off topic! As for aggressive species with aggressive species, it can work i think ive seen people keep Gt's and Jd's together and there meant to hate each other with a passion, from what i heard anyway. Also, what ang said is true, if you have enough space you can keep anything almost from attacking each other but with 80+fish i can imagine its going to turn into a blood bath once it gets overcrowded lol....
