OK THANKS ALOT
one last question. Do you have to put decor? I was thinking just leaving the tank bare with a few large rocks and a large piece of drift wood.

well. no. You dont have to. But it may help cut back on fights.

That said. Lots of members have tanks full of aggessive species with no decor that do great. They will often overstock their tanks so the fish dont have much choice other than to get along.

i have a 13" oscar who is for the most part. very peaceful.
a 10" Johanna
a 9" Red Bay Snook
a 9" Jack Dempsey
1 Tinfoil barb
2 Severums
and 1 Green Flyer Cichlid (who is only 4")

My pike was harrassing my snook, so i went out and got some lace rock and plants, and now everyone is doing really well. No more problems so far.
The pike still goes after the snook, but just pushes him away rather than trying to kill him.

I think decor plays a major roll in keeping the peace.

But, you may have to just try it out both ways and go with whatever works best.

Your tank is only 15 gallons less than mine, so you could maybe fit more fish in there with no decor and they have to get along...

Basically, try and see

How many SA/CA cichlids can i put in this tank?
*larger cichlids, not small ones.
IM NEW SO DON'T FLAME! =] thanks

This thread has way to many variables in the post....start with the footprint of the tank as that is the most important detail not gallons. Also no one can say for sure how many. If it is a tank with a foot print of say 6 feet by 18 inches I would go with a pair of "large cichlids" unless you are going to upgrade soon. A pair of Jags would be nice in the foot print above and they are very interesting to keep as a pair.
