Getting 13 10 gallon tanks!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would set them all up with aqua bridges so you essentially have a 100 gallon tank. Then I'd fill it with small live bearers.

DUDE!!!! Start a cichla collection!!!

OMG I SHOULD! Great idea! haha...

Baby Cichla FTW. Grow them out a month then upgrade them. :grinno:

J/k not a good idea ;)

join them together. That way, you'll have a 130 gall tank! You just need the glass panes on some of them, and use a lot of aquarium sealent and tah dah!

If you took them all apart you should be able to make a almost 240gal tank. Around 400-500 if you don't have a back. that'd be about a 12 foot long tank tho.

I had one for awhile but it was getting in my way a lot and wasn't large enough for all of my fish so I took it down.

The glass is to thin. It would break under the pressure. 10 gallon tanks use thin glass that is not designed to take that much strain.

The pressure on the glass only changes if you increase the vertical volume of water behind the glasses foot print. if the volume of water is the same or less there will be equal to or less the amount of force.

That is why a 1 foot tall tank can have 8mm glass and why a 2 foot tall tank would want 20mm (measurements arn't perfect just ball parks.)

The only time where length is an attributing factor in the strength is where bowing would occur, because the tank is sealed every foot, as long as its supported as well, there shouldn't be an issue with bowing or the glass being stressed.

Wrong. The side pieces would have the force of all the water and would not hold. I have seen people try things like this and the sides always fail. Aqua bridge's would be safer and look both cooler and nicer to me. No supports every foot.
