getting 3 Orinocensis from Rapps tomorrow!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My Orino started taking Carnivore Pellets tonight. Colors are starting to come out a bit more and he's definitely not taking any crap from any of the more established tank mates.

I fed him feeders a few times and thought I'd be relegated to using those and some frozen krill until I could get it weened onto commercial foods. I was supposed to get him some feeders yesterday, but didn't and noticed he was showing some interest in everyone else going after nls pellets. I threw in some carnivore pellets and he hammered them. Didn't spit 'em out or anything. Hikari carnivore pellets are like fish crack.

I just bought a bag of the carnivore pellets. I will try them this week. I have 3 small grow out kels too that only eat frozen blood worms and feeders. I'll try with them too.

Thank you!

Sorry all. I've been busy the last few days and didn't have a chance to update.

They are skittish so the pics aren't the best. Also, Jeff said they hit freeze dried krill but mine just mouth them and spit them out. It's frustrating since they are getting skinny and they don't take prepared foods. My kels in the other tank are the same way and I'm just about sick of it as I have no time to constantly pick up feeders. Any help is appreciated since the starving thing isn't working for me. At least my kels eat fbw.
Thanks for posting pics.
They ate freeze dried krill daily for weeks.
I don't have overhead strip lights on tank (just ceiling shop lights in facility), so the bright lights may be freaking them out still.

I don't recommend offering feeders for many reasons. Plus they never got them in all the time I had them. I only feed them frozen and freeze dried foods - and they ate really well!

Thanks again

Thaw out those frzn bw cubes.
Crush some of those carnivore pellets up.
MIx them up with the thawed out bw cubes and stir em up into a paste.
Put in fridge for 30min+. When feeding only put in bite sized chunks. Like little pellet sized balls.
Over time up the amount of pellets to the bw. Eventually they will be eating strictly pellets.

Like Jeff Rapps says. He has never fed them live.
Its best to keep it this way so they are easier to train.
I try and never give live to my growouts. THat way its never expected.

Thank you everyone. My orino ate some CArnivore sticks Just now. It isn't with gust but they are eating them!

I'll try the method you shared gangster with my kels.
