Soooo now gettin a new 55gal for christmas. I jw... I'm going to get more gravel and move the fish, rocks, and maybe the dirt :P i may replace the dirt cuz it turns the filter cartrige brown. Idk if that normal but fish and plants are healthy :). I'm going to move my goldfish into the 30 gallon and i now have a left over 20 gallon. I may give it to my gf :). Just wanted to tell everyone whats goin on :). Suggestions will be appreciated. The current stock of my 30 gal is:

3 zebra danios (I hate these guys i don't want any more of them)
3 White clouds
4 platies (1 is actually a bigger fry to big to eat. 2 of them are actually preggo)
2 dalmatian mollies (the female is preggo)
1 otocinclus (i need more of these guys)

Plants:
1 sword
1 java fern
1 anubias

I wanna do a lot more with plants so suggestions with that will be fun.

Once the 55 is more mature, you could try a small school of ghost catfish (they don't tend to do well in tanks that haven't been running for at least 6 months), but they definitely require a bit more of an advanced level of care to keep really healthy. I would put in either some gourami but I'm not sure how bad they'd be with your current stock. Maybe some dwarf gourami instead as they tend to be less aggressive.

Either way, congrats on the new tank!!!

thanks... i still debating if i should try a betta just one more time because i will be getting more rocks and more plants. i gonna buy some floating plants from aquaticjungles.com and also try and find a good peice of drift wood. since there will be more hiding places i would think the betta would be able to chill away from the dannios. For some reason my male dalmatian mollie is very territorial about his rock... prolly because they the only rock hiding spots in there so i def gonna make more rocky spots for him to chill inside. also any1 know about getting the tannins out of wood?

Its a long process to get the tannins out of driftwood. I'd recommend soaking in hot water for a few days if you don't want the "river" looks to your tank. Make sure to change the water that your soaking in so the tannins will release properly.
IMO, I'd only soak the driftwood for a few days and the clean it thoroughly. The tannin look from the driftwood gives your whole aquarium an advantage for your fish and plants.
Personally, I'd let the tannins release into your tank to benefit a better home for your fishes and plants.

so the tannins are not poisonoius?

No, they're not poisonous at all (as long as there's nothing toxic in your piece of driftwood). One thing to definitely watch is your PH once you add the wood to your tank. Driftwood tends to lower PH as it sits in the tank. If you decide to try the betta, definitely do NOT try the gourami with him.

if i do try a betta would a female be better as the fins are not as big of a target? Would a dragon scale be good? I also wonder if i should add anything else in with my current stock. like a few different types of mollie or a few more platies... i don't want guppies... i def want to be able to use the space. advice on stock would be welcomed :D

IMO, With what you already have, I'd do a nice shoal of some neon tetras. (or just about any kind of tetra since they dont get that big at all)
