Getting a 55 gal :D

so on the new stock i have some fish on hold. it is not the complete stock but i did order:

2 more platy (1 male painted glass platy, 1 female blue mickey mouse platy)
2 sword tail (1 male, 1 female)
3 guppy, i decided to get some :P (1 male black tuxedo, 2 tequilla females)
3 green cory cats.

I do want a school of tetras but i not sure what kind and if i did get a school of tetras would they nip at a betta? I want to try a betta again really bad but i don't want to put it in there knowing it's a death sentence :P

as far as plants i have not decided what new plants and st00f that i want. suggestions pl0x :D.

my current plants are:

1 java fern
1 sword
1 anubias
 
your going to have like a guppies lol

maybe a school of the red bellys xray tetras.... they are cool looking and I dont think they are to aggressive

only thing on that is... how many are minimum for a school? I dont wanna have to empty my pockets out 100% I need some left over to spend on my gf lol.
 
If you are getting a betta you should be careful because zebra danios can be quite nippy. I think getting one or two rams would be okay. They aren't very aggressive, except for the occasional squabble between members of the same species. But your tank should be big enough to accommodate two comfortably.

ye i think the danios killed the betta i tried last time but i didnt exactly have sufficient hiding spots. Hopefully with more space the danios will finally be top swimmers :P. I absolutely HATE them. I got them to top swimming fish to give variety to the tank but all they do is chase and torture the poor white clouds and swim around the bottom chasing each other. It drives me nucking futs :P
