he is still gonna be fat and heavy.
I would actually make a point to not overfeed him, burms can be fed quite enough and not get really fat.. Just lots of people like feeding them huge meals, with the result being an obese burm. This happens so much that many people are under the impression that they always turn out like this..

On the other hand, something like this is perfectly handle-able with a hook.

have you picked up something that size with a hook?

Yes actually. It was a 7 foot (obese..) columbian boa. I did not pick it up with just the hook, I used the hook to maneuver it out of it's cage, then picked it up with my hands.

According to the seller, this burm is not aggressive, except during feeding time, so honestly all I would be using the hook for would be when taking him out of his cage. If I used the hook any other time, I wouldn't pick him up off the ground with the hook alone, it would be in a fashion similar to this.

Id go wit the 4ft cage the more room the better
The only reason I'm wary about doing that is that full dwarf burms tend to be very shy and insecure, and I'm not sure how much that will do to the half dwarf. In any case, burms tend to just curl up in a corner, so it doesn't matter if there's a lot of extra room or not, as long as there is enough space.

What was the damage(price)?

its a python why the heck do you wana hook it? and yes it can potentially go 15'+ with half dwarf genetics so it's just a regular burm. Al these vendors n breeders who claim predicted size on aminals not provable is crap give it 15yrs n see.... IF YOU BUYING THIS TO HANDLE SOLO FORGET IT NOW PLEASE.

if you worried and wana hook a half dwarf its dam lucky you only getting a half dwarf cos sounds like a full dwarfs temp would kinda own you. Hooking a burm out a viv is very well for a viv defensive burm, what about just an angry burm?

Even a healthy snake in that size range will be awkward with a hook. The only thing I've found hooks to be useful for when working with large constrictors so far is as a tool to gently tap the snakes on the nose to let them know I'm not food. When actually picking up snakes, even defensive ones, I feel more coordinated when just using my hands. That may just be me personally though.

the above two posts!!
No need for a hook man
