Most growing oscars see anything smaller than themselves as food (IME). If the oscar gets the cat in it's mouth, the cat is going to lock it's fins (like klotsix described), and you will end up with two dead fish. If you mix the two, there is a good chance that you will find your O speared through the face from the inside. I'm just saying, it is something to think about.

TRUE THAT man. IME i have kept O's (9")with smaller RTC(3"), but my O's never bothered the RTC. WORKed for me MIGHT not work for you.

Along the lines with Koltsix's comments...some people have good experiences with placing hidespots in the front or sides of the tank that will entice the cat to hid betweent the hidespot and the glass. The cat feels secure and thinks their hidden, but you have full view...and why not, it's such a beautiful catfish.

I'd definitely worry about the oscar.

i deffinetly dont have to worry about him cuz all he does is hang out at the top and do nothing until feeding time then he goes right back up to the top were the plants r. lol

at this one LFS in Utica NY. the guy that runs it had a degree in animals and used to be some important guy in zoos so he knows a lot about everything. and he has a really good supply of fish!!
