Great looking Macaw. Is she okay with you considering your new to her?

"is there such thing as a quiet macaw"

lol thats true there are few parrot keepers in the area and the Macaws and the Cockatoos call to each other from yard to yard and its loud lol but I love it.
I dont know if the cages are wheeled outside during warm days or some might be in avairys as can only see one macaw pair when I drive down the road but few keep them.

Not knowing much about Macaws I thought the small macaw (mini me type) was quite and just assumed yours that type till saw pic.
To bad you don't live in areas the more Macaws the better lol .

she is very sweet and loves attention and to be pet and rubbed on. She threw up on my partner and then went to rub all over his face (which was hysterical btw). I found out that she chose him as her mate and was showing affection by trying to feed him. I have watched every bird training video that I can find and am going to start target training her and getting her to talk some along with stopping her occasional fits when we leave the room. I let her out in my courtyard for a bit today and she had a blast digging in the mulch and chewing on some of the plants so I think that I will make some sort of perch for her to climb on during good weather.

For the most part, she acts like a typical 2 yearold and I feel that anyone that wants to have a child should live with a parrot for a month or so first to understand just how exhausting they are!

She is the best valentines day gift I have ever had... still need a name though.

lol didn't know same bird thought two different types of eclectus . Both pretty but the red females we saw were stunning.

They were called Solomon Island eclectus . Imagine one type eclectus. .
yeah solomon islands are the smallest of the different variants (ones from different areas grow to different sizes and have small differences in colors, the type i want are called red-sided eclectus and look very similar to the SI but are quite a bit larger), and yeah its funny because when they were first imported thats what the people thought as well and then wondered why none of the birds were breeding when they had all the red ones together and all the green ones together:ROFL::ROFL:, they are one of the few parrots that are sexually dimorphic (also one of only a select few large parrots that are quiet enough to be reccomended for apartment life:naughty:), but alas this is a de-rail LOL and back to OP, your new girl is gorgeous!! make sure to keep us updated on her progress and POST MORE PICS:D and yeah sounds like she is a handfull!! you know i guess they say the large parrots actually have the intelligence of like a 4-5 yr old human but the emotional maturity of like a 2yr old LOL

there are hundreds of parrot rescues across the US that are filling up and the bgger birds are usually the ones that have to stay
so just look around at various rescues and you should be able to find some awesome birds and hopefully make their life happy

man that is one sweet bird, I am happy that you got him and you seem to be enjoying him
is it a him?
if so, have fun when he starts jerkin off on stuff
that was a weird experience when i went to my breeders and there were 3 CAG just masterbating right near the front door, it was certainly a surprising greeting lol

I have not heard back from the guy that was going to sell it to me. Looks like I might not get him :-(. I was really excited but i guess I should be saving my money for a female mata anyways...
Glad you ended up with something nice...Were you going to attempt to breed the female mata eventually?
