Getting a new snake next week at expo need suggestions!!

Ya maybe instead of a snapper ill get an amazon tree boa or some kind of western hognose all depends what they got and prices

I'd get a pair of carpets rather than two different snakes; you'll probably get a better price per snake that way if you get them from the same vendor.

the hognose are nice, stay a good size, very docile and easy to handle, and they eat frogs, i live next to a river so i like catchin their dinner, their poison is specific to amphibians so its cool to watch it in action. the tree pythons are beautiful id go with one of them, the carpet pythons a great idea too. I'd take it slow with the big snakes unless you have a spare room, or a homemade 10'x10' cage.

I would second the suggestion of a carpet python. With that type of caging, I would NOT get a green tree python. They have special requirements that you can't give them in that type of housing.

Are saying I'm going to need that size cage for a carpet python or just the burm or anaconda because I'm not going to get those

Ya im leaning more towards the carpet python, western hognose, or amazon tree boa, I wouldn't get any of these as normals so I could breed in the future

Average male burm: 6' x 3' x 2'
Average female burm: 8' x 4' x 2'
Carpet python: 3' x 2' x 2'

The cage sizes that I listed are the minimums if you intend on taking the snake out of the cage for exercise at least once a week (which should be done anyway if you intend on making sure the snake stays docile); a larger cage probably will be appreciated by the snake but is unnecessary in the majority of cases (but can be psychologically harmful in some extreme cases).

Another thing to keep in mind is that people often tend to grossly overstate how large of a cage some species of snakes need because of the perceived potential maximum size that said snakes might get even though said maximum sizes are extreme outliers rather than the norm. For example, burms and anacondas do not need a 10' x 10' cage in almost all situations (with the maximum-sized individuals being the exception); you'd consider yourself lucky to have a burm that exceeds 16' let alone 20' (the average length of captive burms is 12').

If you want to breed your future snake at some point, then the carpet python is your best bet; they're starting to gain more prominence while the other two snakes haven't really become as popular (mainly due to the price tag on morphs and their temperament, respectively).

Thanks for all that info but id have to disagree on the western hognose (my brothers at least) is very docile hasn't ever tried to bite either of us once and some of the color morphs they have are real nice especially the albinos and anaconda morphs but I'm probably going to get some type of carpet try to get a Jaguar but if not the right price a JAG sibling, diamond, or high yellow but again all depends on price. And ill try to pick up some other kind of reptile but I don't know what yet Ill have an extra 30 gallon tank laying around so something that doesn't outgrow that I don't want any types of geckos, frogs or insects though any thoughts on that

The temperament thing was about the Amazon tree boa; they tend to be pretty aggressive. The cost thing was about the morph hognose snakes; most of the in-demand morphs still cost a decent bit.

O sorry I didn't understand that and I agree with the temperament on tree boas and prices on morphs some are just crazy especially the anaconda morphs
