You can get them on shrimp with a little work, my armatus eats shrimp. Don't know how bloodworms would work as they are too small and not "meaty" enough.
thanks for info.. love to see your armatus.. i will go look them up..yes this one looks just like the armatus..i just read that they are hard to keep.. only last if your "lucky" and everything is pristene "two years" in the aquarium.. how are yours doing?..How long have you had them... do you feed yours feeders.. what is the one thing i should know above everything about keeping them.. i hate losing a fish.. so i will try my best..thanks for helping..

that sudden death thing doesnt have anything to do with armatus, only hydrolycus scomberoides.
as far as i know, all the species do better in groups.
you can get them off live, onto things like shrimp and smelt.no bloodworms.

thanks.. am i better off not taking him then. there is only one.. he would be alone.. and they cannot get anymore at least for a while.. not sure of exact species.. i will need an ID when i get him.. but if he is at risk being alone... not sure what to do..pretty expensive to lose him..

It's not that you can't keep them alone it's just that with a group there's competition, driving them to eat more, and a shoal makes them less skiddish.
What are you planning on housing it with? Tankmates need to be chosen carefully as these fish can be very skiddish. Aggressive tankmates will cause them to starve themselves to death. They may look tough but are actually very delicate, this and the fact they need clean, pristine water would be the factors that I would suspect play a part in thier classification as difficult to keep.
