Since your still living with your parents, you need to listen to them. They are a very important part of your life right now. You said they don't like snakes. They never said you arn't aloud to have one. Ask your parents first, thats better then reaserch.

A male Ball Python only get 4 feet. A female can get about 5'. A 6 footer is rare and probably a very old snake.

Never ever seen a four foot male. Or a five foot female.
6 foot is just an extremely odd case..an almost known existant.

My male ball python was 4 feet and only about 3 years old. It was one of my first snakes and I made alot of mistakes with him. I was told that females get to be 5-6 feet past the 10-20 year old mark. They can live 40 so I don't think its out of the question.

Obviously you had the odd exception. I've seen alot of old snakes in my time. And NEVER seen a four foot male. I'm sure it can happen, but it's rare. Mistakes have nothing to do it with it. If snakes are growing they will grow to full size mistakes being made or not.
Sorry but also am still disagreeing with your 5-6 foot part past the 10-20 year olds for the females. Five ft as an exception maybe. But 6 foot being as rare as the 50 ft reticulated being suggested ;)
One ball python is not enough to suggest all royal males get to 4 foot. Its SO unusual.

Also a small boa...

Corallus hortulanus

thanks all for the information, I'll have something to do besides be on mfk now :D.

As for my parents not liking them, There not gona tell me I cant get one, Considering I could be doing much much worse things in life, as long as I stay off drugs and dont lie to them, i'm pretty much good to go.

Sexual dimorphism is important in inquiring about a snake because, for example, while female ball pythons CAN acheive 5-6' in length (although they usually don't), males even more rarely surpass 4' in length and are get nowhere near the girth that females do.

I'm biased towards ball pythons, they are my favorite species, and with so many morphs to choose from, there's bound to be something for everyone.

Just a few of mine:

And that's nowhere near all of them...so like I said...there's got to be something for everyone as far as ball pythons go...

mhmmmm see these pics, I love this style of snake.

I've got an 8 y/o female that is about 60" long and wieghs around 10 lbs...a buddy of mine has a few 15-20 year old girls....they are MONSTERS at anywhere from 5 to 6 feet long and 15-20 lbs a piece....what makes big ball pythons rare outside of professional breeders' collections is that people simply don't keep them for 20 years either losing interest or losing the animal by not caring for it right long-term. Most professional breeders don't post pics of their normal breeder girls so you really don't see them unless you are lucky enough to visit their facilities.

I've seen plenty of big males...I've seen many many more scrawny, wormy males which seems to be the norm. Its a bell curve...basically, its safe to tell people that a male ball python will grow to anywhere from 3 to 4 feet when fully grown.

Hope that helps clarify things a little.....

so it sounds like a male ball python is my best bet. Gona start doing a little research on them, like the best type of environment etc.. Than I'll look into the dirrent morphs.

Thanks for the help everyone :headbang2

If I was you I would definately steer clear of things to rub my very understanding parents the wrong way. I mean how many other kids would be allowed to keep 500+ gallons of water in their parents house. You got it made dude don't mess it up.
