the nicest pair I have ever seen lived in a 75 gallon with a convict. is your 55 big enough for your fish?

No its not, but this thread isn't about me. Stay on subject.

75 is fine, I had a red devil pair spawning in a 40 breeder with 6 other red devils in the same tank. None of the others even got hurt, they just got chased away from the wrigglers.

75 will be FINE.

A 55 would be too small, but a 75 is fine. You might run into problems when they get full grown, but I would say just put up an eggcrate divider that only the smaller female can fit through if it gets too bad, but really I think you will be fine.

The LFS that had Red devils breeding all the time in 40 breeders without even trying. They have probably 5 tanks full of growouts.

You should be fine, they are good parents, but yo will only have to worry if the male doesn't want to breeed with the female anymore and tries to kil her, btu thats always the chance you take with cichlids.

I think a 75 would be a good tank for a pair of devils. I've done it many times. As long as the female has someplace to retreat she'll be fine. It helps if there is another pair in an adjacent tank so the male can concentrate on them instead of his mate.

I have 1-1.5" F1 for $5 and 2.5-3.5 F2 for $10, shipping depends on how many fish you get and what size, PM me your zip code. Ken

well if you ever post asking for advice I will be sure to point out that your tank is way to small even if it doesn't matter or pertain to your question just like you do.
