Getting back into planted tanks!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^ sweet, i want to see your crpts in that tank, mine have all melted, so basically now hoping for the bounce back...

So the Crypt. Florida sunset arrived over the weekend from New York, they're currently in the tank to let them adjust to my water parameters, then on Friday I'll be moving them into their selective spots in the tank! Sunday I put together a DIY Co2 system for the tank, got it up and running, and added a 1/8th teaspoon of Azomite to the tank. Azomite information can be found here....

The plant bulbs have started to grow, some more than others; 2 of the Aponogetons have really taken off, they're around 6" tall, I tossed the onion plant because I never really liked them, and the Tiger Lotus has started to sprout.

To give you a visualization, look at the pictures already posted in thus thread... With the Amazon Sword in the left rear corner, the Hydro. Corymbosa next to the intake filter tube kind of under the driftwood. Now I moved the Tiger Lotus bulb to the left front corner of the tank, moved the Aponogeton bulbs to the middle rear corner of the tank, and will be placing the Crypt. Florida sunsets around the base of the driftwood.

New pictures will come after moving the crypts on Friday!!!

Just ordered 8 hygrophila corymbosa angustifolia, and will be picking up vals from a friend!

Alright so the hygrophila corymbosa angustifolia arrived today, plus I stopped by the local Petco because I know the fish department manager who always hides the best and unusual plants for me, I picked up a nice sword plant with a shoot that has 4 baby swords on it, some bacopa caroliniana, and some ammannia gracilis!!!

Tank is starting look like a planted tank lol, waiting for the water clear up from adding these plants to the tank. Once it clears up I'll get some new pictures!!!

So I moved the crypt Florida sunsets to around the driftwood, trimmed the hygro but unfortunately where I wanted to put them the substrate isn't deep enough so I'll be picking up a bag of flora-max later this week to deepen the substrate around the entire tank. This way I can move the plants to where I think they'll look best...

So I picked up a 20lb bag of flourite, and noticed some true siamese algae eaters for $2.50 ea. so I picked up 2 of them lol!!! Tomorrow I'll be picking up softball size of peacock moss from a guy, along with a couple anubias nana petite!!!

But the tank has an outbreak of blue-green algae, so I turned off the lights for a couple days to starve it out...
