Getting back into the hobby, empty 90g, help me fill it !

Wow, I always have been fascinated by the mudskippers since I saw that BBC Life documentary, never actually thought about owning them. Extremely interesting !

Are they hard to get by ? (I don't recall seeing any in my usual petstore ventures). The tank setup looks pretty complex but it could be worthwhile (never though about an half water half land setup).

I'll google them out and gather more info but that is a fun possiblity.

Do it! You won't regret it I promise. Check them out on Youtube and you'll see the behavior I was talking about, neat little guys. You can buy them online easy enough, they ship right to your door. The tank set up is very easy actually. Land platform (sand) or floating turtle docks work great too. They eat anything but love hunting crickets (the kind you buy for cheap at any pet store).

Oh and welcome to MFK. ;)

Those little Indian mudskippers look awesome! I see contradictory comments regarding fresh water vs brackish, I honestly know very little about brackish water so I'd much rather go with the simple alternative.. hoping this is doable.

From my quick research it looks like there are quite a few potential tankmates to mike them with too which is even better. I'll have to look at the cost of it all but considering I've got the tank already, the lighting and an half decent fluval 304 (was looking at upgrading to an FX5), it shouldn't be too expensive.

I'll dig in further but if the setup isn't more complicated than what it seems, this would be a great alternative !

You 304 is plent for these guys. An FX5 would fling them out of the tank lol. Too much flow. I would make the outlet to your 304 into a waterfall or water feature type thing. Possibilities are endless when you get creative. If ya want specific advice shoot me a private message, I'll help you out. Low end brackish is easy and definatly different from what most people do.

You might also look into a few Bichirs if the mudskippers prove not to be an option. But dang those mudskippers are interesting... might have to try those lol

moodydoody, I say your username out loud and laugh every time I see it. Just an amazing name, that's all.

Agree that low-end brackish is easy. Some plants can even be kept in it.
