Hey i have had my 6 inch fire eel now in my 135 gallon for almost a week and he has not eaten anything except two mouthfuls of bloodworms :(
Any suggestions on getting him to eat? I have tried shrimp, carnivore pellets and bloodworms. Parameters are in check.

night crawles/earthworms,
a friend just got 2 18" fire eels, dident eat for 2 weeks. he tryed the same as you and in the end i took him earthworms and got them eating with in 20 mins. make sure there small ones and chop a couple up as well as adding a few whole ones to the move around. the chopped ones will give off plenty of smell and the movment will entice it.

just keep going with the worms and make sure it is well fed. mix it up with other types of worms

Make sure you feed it at a set time everytime you feed it; Bloodworms is fine until he gets more comfortable with you.

Like many said, Wal Mart sells "Canadian Nightcrawlers" $2.50 for a container with like 20+ (HUGE ONES) and you can just leave it in the fridge. I usually cut em in 3 pieces.

Not to derail but.. I recently purchased a 4.5" Fire Eel a week and a half ago and have yet to see him eat. but I've been trying frozen blood worms/krill And freeze dried krill. If I try the night crawlers and cut them up do you think the eel would be too small to eat them? Thanks

are you able to get any live aquatic foods in your area? you can try that if you're able to find something. nightcrawlers are the best bet though as long as they are at a size that can be eaten

I'm in Connecticut, not sure if the stores around here carry worms this late never tried before but I'll check some places today. Thanks for reply!

I'm sure there's a bait shop in your area. I'd trust worms from a bait shop sooner than from Wal-Mart.
