Getting plywood for my new breeder tank design. Am curious of where the question marks are for dimensions of front cutout.
The glass for this tank is 36"x20"x1/8". I am pretty sure the cut out has to be smaller than the glass...just not sure how much smaller? As I said the glass is 36x20... so how big should the plywood face be and how much smaller than the glass should the cut out be? Thanks in advance

If the glass is 36"x20" how big does the cutout need to be? Is a 1" border good enough to seal glass, or does the glass need a bigger surface than 1" to bond to? If all I need is a 1" surface to silicone the glass , then the cutout would need to be 34"x18",

What I am asking I guess is how much area I need for a good bond?
 
1'' can be a good enough border depending on tank size personally i will be using a 3 and a half inch border for a tank 72x24x24" but i'm trying to downsize the height of the acrylic a bit.

This will only be a smaller breeder tank anyways. Hopefully not wuch bigger than the glass. Maybe 40"x24"x20"

Yes it is 20" high. 1/8" thickness is to thin?
