In another thread I talked about my beat up FM being moved into his own hospital tank to heal... it's been about 3 weeks now in his new tank...
He's finally coming out of hiding occasionally, but his stomach is quite sunken and I haven't seen him eat anything at all...
I've tried NLS small fish (thought tiny pellets would be easier), Hikari Cichlid Gold small pellets, and Mysis shrimp... He doesn't seem to touch anything.
I think he'll be ok if I can get him eating again...

have you tried frozen blood worms ? find the fattest juiciest red looking ones. try upping the temp also that will stimulate hunger pains .

No, don't have any blood worms on hand, I can go to the Lfs tomorrow and see if they have any. They may only have freeze dried...
Been running the temp at about 80° F

Worms? Internal bacterial infection? stress can undermine a fishes resistance

Not sure. He was beat up pretty bad by the former bully in my large tank so I got my 40 breeder set up for a hospital tank for him. Been dosing with Melafix to help with fin healing.
Plan on water testing later today.

Edit: I did have a parasite issue in his original tank earlier, treated with general cure and it cleared right up.
Not going to be able to run to the Lfs today, too much ice on the roads, travel advisories, etc.

Just wondering... I've got one of those medium sized floating breeder box things... Would it stress him out too much to put him in that so I could keep food in close proximity to him?
Got some frozen bloodworms today after all

Data update. Just ran water tests with my API test kit.

Ph - 7.6
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 5 or slightly under.

My general hardness is approximately "super-hard" lol, usually pushes 300.

Temp is at 78°F right now, going to bump it back up to 80.

He's sharing space with 6 Corey cats now (5 emerald, one Julii), 2 amano shrimp and one bamboo shrimp.

Well right now he's still not really coming out... I got some frozen bloodworms and got them into the driftwood right next to him, but not sure if he ate them, or the shrimp and cory cats did...
Almost considering moving him out and trying to figure a way to plug the hole so he can't get back in, but don't want him over stressed...
It's been a month and he's showing little sign of any improvement. ..
