Getting my Firemouth to eat...

Well I didn't get any pics after the fact, but his fins had been nipped pretty bad, and his gill plates (covers? Not sure what they're called excactly) looked like they'd been nipped too, could see a lot more of his red gill tissue than normal.
In the hospital tank he never really came out of hiding, didn't eat anything I tried, and just basically wasted away it seems. Tried aquarium salt, tried melafix, the only two options I had. Biweekly water changes of 30%...
I think by the time I got the hospital tank set up, it may have been too late, but bills had to come first...

sounds like he had a bad infection going on and his immune system gave up on him.
