Getting my RTCxTSN on pellets

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i don't think i can take my LSN off of live he eats five of the fish and that is all he will eat. some times i think you should just leave them on live food In my opinion i mean i know everyone says its not right but in reality they would be doing the same in non captivity but Good luck hope it works keep posting about it i wanna try the same some day

How large is your LSN? When my TSN was small I fed him earth worms. They interested him because they were alive and wiggling. From there its fairly easy.

Seriously, getting your fish off live will help you tremendously.

If your LSN is healthy, I would try starving for a bit. Or try feeding at the same time every day, from the same side of the tank, etc. When he gets excited for the fish to be dropped into the tank and paying attention to the same area...drop in a dead fish instead of a live one. He'll most likely nail it. Do that for a bit, then try frozen silversides, shrimp, tilapia, etc.

My TSN took more work to get on pellets than my RTC, but he learned quickly after he picked up a few pellets while he was chewing on raw shrimp.

I would just with bloodworms and other frozen. I even used the smaller cubes when he was that small. They'd make his belly plump right up.

I warn you, he'll be a monster very shortly. I know he's a hybrid, but he should still be a speedy grower. I've said this a million and one times about my rtc, but mine was that small, if not smaller when I got him in early November last year. He's now 24". I had to take him out of the 450 because I was afraid for the other fish. He's in a 210 all by himself and I feel that is really too small for him. He pushes up on the glass tops, attacks my fx5 filter intake, etc. I actually put a large dog toy in the tank with him to keep his mind on something.

I hope you have plans for a very large tank, with a large footprint and filter within the next year. These fish grow incredibly fast and have very big mouths.

I have a 320 gallon pond being setup as I type this, for now, then once he reaches about 3 foot he is going into a 920 gallon. I did my research before I got him, I am not one who buys on impulse. Lastly here is a picture of him from today, after three days of having him.

id make sure hes eatin all other food good before you try and get him on pellets. and atleast 6inches long.

He eats worms like crazy so I am sticking to that, and I am picking up some tilapia and frozen blood worms this next week for him.
