Getting my very first Africans tomorrow!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
OK, late night change of plans, courtesy of my darling husband....we are rehoming the needlenose gar and the bala sharks in his 125, and putting my new fish in there (labs, Rusties, and the Acei); the tank has been set up for a while, and I still have to catch the fish in it...he wants to keep the Kyoga Flamebacks in the 55 gallon (gonna have to put some fish back in that tank), and add a species or 2 as this breeder gets his fish from the pond, in the next month or so.

Dave's is my LFS...in touring his place I was highly impressed. He personally came up with a stocking plan for me, for each of my tanks, which I am mostly following (just using the bigger tank). I'm not one to generally promote anywhere, but I really liked his place, and liked him personally. I thought, in comparison, his prices weren't out of line with others that I've seen, and I don't have to pay shipping...a huge plus.

Thanks for all of the input...I do appreciate it, and will take any and all advice/suggestions seriously....have looked up several species of fish from posts on this forum!

Dave has always had some super nice stuff, just a bit to rich for my tastes.

so what did u get?
OK, I got...8 yellow labs, 8 Rusties, and 6 white tailed Aceis...they are in my 75 gallon right now, until I can finish making their 125 gallon ready this week. They are just awesome, the colors, the behavior, unlike anything I've ever had before. I think this may be the start of an addiction!!

that's a lot of fish to add all at once

I moved other fish out of the tank today as well, so it has been cycled for a while now, and yes, sort of is, but they will be moving to another tank as soon as I can get it ready, and the bioload on the tank I'm moving them into is rather large...shouldn't be a huge deal to move them. But I will make sure to test the tanks to make sure everything is ok, and do water changes as needed.

I only have one empty tank in my house, which I am cleaning up for a quarantine tank...it's just a 20 gallon.

Thanks~

Sigh, the only camera I have is on my cell phone, and it takes crappy pics. I'm planning on getting a digital camera soon, but right now I'm laid off...gas prices did in the auto companies...and out of work.

$50 for all my fish...and they are breeding size (all but 2), think I did OK there.

Scored!! Went to the local Cichlid club's auction, and got 4 adult Kyoga Flamebacks, thinking 2 males 2 females, but with the dull colors, hard to tell right now. I will give them a day or 2 and check coloring.
